Diamond Certification
What is Diamond Certification?
A diamond certificate, also known as a diamond grading report, as they are known in the diamond industry, is often called the fifth C, in addition to the well-known 4Cs of diamond stones: colour, clarity, cut, and carat.
What are GIA, IGI, and HRD diamond certificates?
GIA – Gemological Institute of America
IGI – International Gemological Institute
HRD – Hoge Raad voor Diamant or Diamond High Council
GIA, IGI, and HRD Labs have an excellent reputation and are considered by many to be the world’s foremost authorities in gemology.
A Diamond Certificate issued by GIA, IGI, or HRD is essentially a statement attesting to the authenticity of a diamond, providing a reliable and accurate statement of its identity and grade based on an internationally recognised system. The certificate contains a complete description of a diamond’s quality with regards to its shape, weight, clarity grade, colour grade, fluorescence, measurements, proportions, and finish grade. These quality characteristics determine the value of the Diamond.
